Tierra, aunque este asteroide en particular no presenta ninguna amenaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se calcula que el impacto ocurrir\u00e1 en alg\u00fan momento entre julio y septiembre de&nbsp;<strong>2022<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El nombre Dimorphos significa \u00abdos formas\u00bb. Est\u00e1 compuesto por un par de asteroides que orbitan estrechamente entre s\u00ed, lo que se conoce como una binaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El m\u00e1s grande de los dos objetos, llamado Didymos, mide alrededor de 780 metros de ancho, mientras que su compa\u00f1ero m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o, Dimorphos, mide alrededor de 160 metros de ancho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abDART solo cambiar\u00e1 el per\u00edodo de la \u00f3rbita de Dimorphos en una peque\u00f1a cantidad. Y realmente eso es todo lo que se necesita en caso de que se descubra un asteroide con mucha anticipaci\u00f3n\u00bb, dice Kelly Fast, de la oficina de coordinaci\u00f3n de defensa planetaria de la NASA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los asteroides son los bloques de construcci\u00f3n sobrantes del Sistema Solar. En el caso extremadamente raro de que la trayectoria de una roca espacial alrededor del Sol cruce la de la Tierra de modo que los dos objetos se crucen al mismo tiempo, puede producirse una class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Objetos del tama\u00f1o de Dimorphos podr\u00edan impactar contra la Tierra con muchas veces la energ\u00eda de una bomba nuclear t\u00edpica, devastando \u00e1reas pobladas y causando decenas de miles de v\u00edctimas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los asteroides con un di\u00e1metro de 300 metros o mayores podr\u00edan causar destrucci\u00f3n en todo un continente, mientras que aquellos mayores de 1 km producir\u00edan efectos en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La NASA ha explicado, sin embargo, que \u00ab<strong>no se conoce<\/strong>&nbsp;ning\u00fan asteroide que represente un riesgo de impacto en la Tierra en los pr\u00f3ximos 100 a\u00f1os\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hasta ahora, el asteroide m\u00e1s peligroso es el 2009FD, que tiene menos de 0,2% de probabilidades de chocar contra la Tierra en el a\u00f1o&nbsp;<strong>2185.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p DART<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El dardo que planea golpear a Dimorphos es una nave de bajo costo que puede viajar a 6,6 km por segundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Va equipada con&nbsp;<strong>paneles solares<\/strong>&nbsp;que al desplegarse miden 8,5 metros de largo cada uno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En su interior llevar\u00e1 una c\u00e1mara que le ayudar\u00e1 a navegar y a identificar su objetivo, as\u00ed como a elegir el mejor&nbsp;<strong>punto de impacto.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La nave tambi\u00e9n llevar\u00e1 un&nbsp;<strong>sat\u00e9lite c\u00fabico<\/strong>&nbsp;que se desprender\u00e1 unos d\u00edas antes del choque e intentar\u00e1 capturar im\u00e1genes del momento del impacto entre DART y Dimorphos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un asteroide se considera cercano a la Tierra cuando su \u00f3rbita lo trae a unos&nbsp;<strong>50 millones de kil\u00f3metros<\/strong>&nbsp;de nuestro planeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aunque la gran mayor\u00eda de objetos cercanos que entran a la atm\u00f3sfera de la Tierra&nbsp;<strong>se desintegran<\/strong>&nbsp;antes de llegar a la superficie, aquellos objetos que son mayores a unos 30 metros s\u00ed podr\u00edan&nbsp;<strong>causar da\u00f1os<\/strong>&nbsp;si traspasan la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cada mes, los astr\u00f3nomos logran detectar varios asteroides de algunos pocos metros de di\u00e1metro que pasan entre la&nbsp;<strong>Tierra y la
